HackDay2026 - CEV   Code the Future with AI

HackDay2026 is a mini-hackathon hosted by FOSS CEV in collaboration with MLH and Google Gemini. We are bringing together the brightest minds at College of Engineering Vadakara for a high-energy sprint of coding, learning, and innovation.

This isn't just about writing code—it's about building real tools to solve the problems you face every day in college. From attendance trackers to mess menu bots, if it helps the campus, build it. While integrating Google Gemini is optional, using it to enhance your solution will give you an upper hand in the competition. Whether you are a seasoned developer or a complete beginner, this is your playground.

Requirements

What to Build

You must build a completely working software application that solves a specific problem faced by students or staff in college.

  • Platform: Web App, Mobile App, Desktop App, CLI Tool, or Browser Extension.

  • Requirement: The project must identify and solve a real campus issue (e.g., attendance, notes sharing, mess management, finding empty labs).

  • Gemini API : Using the Google Gemini API is not mandatory, but integrating it effectively will give you an upper hand in judging.

  • Fresh Code: The majority of your code must be written during the hackathon period. Pre-existing projects are not accepted, though you may use open-source boilerplates.

What to Submit

To be eligible for prizes, you must complete your submission on Devpost before the deadline. Here is the checklist:

1. Project Details (on Devpost)

  • Project Name & Tagline: Catchy and descriptive.

  • Description: A clear write-up of what problem it solves, how you built it, and how you used Gemini (if applicable).

2. The Code (GitHub)

  • Public Repository: Provide a link to a public GitHub repository containing your code.

  • README.md: Your repo must include a README.md file with:

    • Project Title & Description.

    • Instructions on how to set up and run the code.

3. Mandatory Live Demo

  • During the judging rounds, you must be able to show a completely working live demo of your project on your machine. Screenshots or design mockups will not be accepted as a final project.
